The Spring Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace and Brainerd Lakes United Environmentalists (BACP-BLUE) Adopt-a-Highway cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 23. Cleanup volunteers will meet at the former Knottys on 371 restaurant parking lot, located off Highway 76 north of Little Falls, at 11 a.m. A short assembly will be held to plan the cleanup.
Volunteers can bring work gloves and grabber sticks to pick up litter for the cleanup.
Volunteers are encouraged to read the Adopt-a-Highway information posted here. Included in the Adopt-a-Highway information is how to report potentially hazardous materials encountered during the cleanup, tips to avoid poison ivy and other plants which cause itching, and Lyme Disease prevention advice.
If bad weather forces the cleanup to be cancelled, the Spring BACP-BLUE Adopt-a-Highway cleanup will be rescheduled.
Everyone is welcome to join the Spring BACP-BLUE Adopt-a-Highway cleanup. The project will be a great way to help the environment and share our message of peace and environmental protection. Please join us.
We have been holding our meetings on-line via Zoom during the winter. Beginning with the May meeting, we will be meeting either at the UCC Church, 415 Juniper, Brainerd (SW corner of Gregory Park) or at Gregory Park, depending on the weather. An agenda will be provided via email prior to the meeting and that email will also contain another link to join by Zoom during the winter months. Meetings held by Zoom will be limited to 40 minutes. For more information go to the Meeting Agendas and Minutes.
Brainerd Lakes United Environmentalists is an inclusive group of people working to support the health of the environment through communication, advocacy and cooperation with broader networks to promote scientifically-sound solutions on issues of climate change and water quality in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
