how Bright is this?

Just a few comments and thoughts for you to digest. Call this the sarcasm page, maybe.

Here is a brilliant statement by President Bush, although it is not an exact quote. I heard it on the radio when the 'sniper attacks' were occurring. He said this was a heinous crime against innocent victims... Then proceeded to plan a new war on Iraq that will surely claim thousands of innocent lives. ... But that's different.

And a man said, "We can't just let them keep attacking us." So I asked -- who is attacking us? Last I heard, it was Bin Laden and Al-qaeda; we've been accidentally blowing up wedding parties in Afghanistan and rooting out evil since then. How'd this transfer to Iraq? On this point - I can't shoot my neighbor even if I THINK he intends me harm - I can only protect myself until he begins an attack, then it is justifiable.

And another young man, when asked what facts President Bush's speech had, replied, "I don't need facts - I believe in intuition."  This satisfies me as a cause for war! - Not.

When we rallied for peace, a man yelled, "Go home!" :) Exactly - that is what we want, to keep our kids home.

Last time I carried a seasonal greeting on my sign.... "Peace on Earth" What kind of trash is that?? :) On the other side, since I wish everyone peace, I wrote, "Bless you, too!" - for the ones that yelled and such. :) It seems to make them madder, go figure.

I'm amazed at people when I say I am for peace.... they get suspicious, call me unpatriotic, feel threatened.... The American Way is support for war? I wasn't taught this.

And which part of "Thou shalt not kill" is hard to understand? I've never heard a quote from Christ (as in Christian, you see) that okays deliberately setting out to kill another.

"It is written in the Koran that Muslims should kill all Christians and Jews." Problem is... when I talked to my Muslim friends, they didn't seem to know this. Their faith is one of an all-loving God... Um, any history of the Christian Crusades? As in "Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war...." Oh. Sometimes I trip over myself.

How idiotic would I look, holding signs saying, "War is good!" "We have no proof, but that is good enough!" "Killing families and children is fair!"

"Trust your government" is not a good way to run a democracy - could even lead to a dictatorship.... "Stay informed and use your constitutional freedoms" seems wiser.

And if all the people wanting peace fell off the earth, what would be left? Seems crazy to hate and kill the peaceful ones, doesn't it?

"Saddam has killed his own people!".... and what he didn't kill, we did. Or will? But that's different. Tell this to a parent of a child with cancer from toxins of war.

Does anyone else see a contradiction in 'friendly fire'? Like dead is not so dead, or it is not so bad to be wounded by accident by a friend --- somehow, it is better than having the enemy score?

For me -- if a bomb lands on my house, I am not sure I care who's initials are on it? I want them to go ... somewhere else? Especially if I am just trying to live my life, and not part of the conflict. Oh, I see.... 'civilian casualty'. And ... they don't count. Never mind.

Does anyone else wonder about what we are now doing with 'expired' chemical weapons? Seems they don't stay good forever, and then you have a bunch of useless, toxic waste. This may be a reason to 'unload' a few weapons near their expiration date, ideally 'somewhere over there'. Don't people usually dump garbage in someone else's yard?

I know - what toxic waste? Maybe the site below can add some information.
