Meet some Members This page gives a brief introduction to some of the people currently involved with BACP in a variety of ways.
Kristen's bio is currently being updated, but in the meantime
you can have a look at a page she created shortly after 9/11. Patricia Scott
My Dad volunteered for the Navy in WWII, then
worked for peace for the rest of his life. He and my mom met at a meeting of
the Young Progressives. As a child I marched with my mom in a Mother's March
for Peace. Our family also helped organize a Unitarian Universalist
Fellowship in Logan, Utah. The UU's believe in Social Activism.
While raising my own children, I put political
activism on the back burner. Then in June 2002 I saw a notice in the paper
about this demonstration on the corner of 210 and 371. I went to the
demonstration and started coming to meetings, and got involved with planning
the statewide peace conference which was held in July. I've been involved ever
since.
Naushad Kabeer Naushad has joined BACP, asking his voice be added on the issues we address. Naushad is in UAE (United Arab Emirates), and doesn't think he will be able to personally attend any meetings, but he still wishes to be recognized. He provides articles and information to share, from half-way around the world. Naushad works as a computer specialist. More information on Naushad is included under linking to Elaine's page 'Just Me', under 'A New Family'. Elaine Kain I joined BACP by 'coincidence,' if there is such a thing in the universe. I was taking pictures of autumn leaves one Saturday when I saw the BACP members holding a short vigil, again on intersections of 210 and 371 in Baxter, MN. Previously I had been involved simply through the Internet and Naushad with issues of peace. When I recognized my former biology instructor, I asked if I could take a picture to share with friends overseas. Currently I am about to graduate from Central Lakes College with a degree in Communications Art and Design. I constructed this website as part of an assignment, and I believe there is no greater cause to work for than peace - through information, sharing, and caring. The 'Just Me' pages, My Story, fully explain my views without consultation with any other BACP members. |
